This term, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts at Flitwick Scout Group have all been learning how to light a fire using a Ferrocerium Rod and striker to make sparks.

Beavers have also been learning how to light a candle with a match, and toasting a marshmallow to make S'mores.

Cubs have cooked potatoes, beans and chocolate banannas on an open fire as well as learning how to build up a small fire from the initial tinder.

Scouts have been experimenting with how effective cotton wool is as a tinder depending on how it is prepared, and in their patrols took part in a "Fire Limbo" challange where they had to build a fire from scratch that would get high enough to burn through a line of string suspended above their fire.

The Dauntless Explorer Scout Unit have also been cooking sausages and camp dounuts on an open fire.
