I haven’t received any words from the camp, but these pictures show that even the leaders have fun at camp.

Cubs went to Colchester Zoo. After a very rainy night cubs rose early to get fed and up to the buses by 8.40. Most of the tents were flooded out and Nicky had a peaceful day hanging wet clothes out to dry! Cubs enjoyed the zoo especially the climbing frames, had creams and trim trails! Tea was pasta bake and salad and all but two ate the lot! After tea the cubs headed off for more activities and Nicky and Barry put their backs out pushing cubs down the hill on grass sledges! Cubs went to bed exhausted. So did Nicky and Barry. Tomorrow is another activity based day at the site. Nigel will pay us a visit and we’ll have a barbecue!

No pictures as yet! I’m having difficulty uploading them to the rather old computers here!
Saturday night the cubs were very excited! Some didn’t sleep til past 12 then rose at 4am, much to Michelle’s disgust!
Sunday they fell asleep by 9.30…they were tired!
Sunday also saw the cubs participating in an ‘It’s a knockout’ style competition and watching a magic show. Dinner of Chilli and Rice was enjoyed and even Thomas didn’t notice the hidden vegetables! Large quantities of cake were eaten and then the cubs enjoyed a talent show in the main arena.
Monday was less hot and the cubs went for a walk then had free time to explore the site and get face painted or enjoy a water fight! Dinner will be baked potatoes and salad, with more cake!
Tomorrow we’re off to Colchester Zoo.
Everyone is having a great time!
Friday evening was spent loading the 7.5 tonne lorry, ready for an early start in the morning to set-up camp before the arrival of the Cubs.
A few parents did stay, after dropping off their bags, to help load but many hands more would have made lighter work for the leaders.
Saturday morning one parent, one Scout Leader, one Cub Leader and a DC unloaded the van at Gilwell Park and put up:-
plus setting up the kitchen and camping area before the Cubs arrived late afternoon.
The Cubs arrived safely ready for the weeks activities.
Details from the opening ceremony and other activities can be found on:-
Further updates as I receive them from Camp.
Sorry no pictures today.
Both Cubs and Scouts were on-site all day doing various activities.
The day started very wet which continued on and off all day.
Both sections had goes on the climbing walls.
The Scouts had a couple of sessions kayaking on the lake which wasn’t spoilt by the heavy rain.
Unfortunately the Speedway was cancelled so the Scouts went to the pictures. The evening was completed with a KFC. Comments from the general public, in the pictures on how well behaved the Scouts were.
The Cubs had Fish & Chips on-site around a Camp fire.
